Hillsdale College & BCSI Member School
An Education of the Whole Person
Naples Classical Academy is a member school of the Hillsdale College Barney Charter School Initiative. Our partnership provides the curriculum for all scholars K-12, training & conferences for faculty, staff, & board members, and continuous guidance throughout the year in all areas. As a member school, Naples Classical Academy enjoys the connection provided to Hillsdale College and other member school which allows for a true classical school and culture.
At Naples Classical Academy, well-educated, articulate, and engaged teachers explicitly convey real knowledge to students using traditional teaching methods with the mission of training the minds and improving the hearts of young people through a rigorous, classical education in the liberal arts and sciences in all grades from Kindergarten to 12th grade. Scholars receive instruction in the principles of moral character and civic virtue, in a culture that demands moral virtue, decorum, respect, discipline, and studiousness among scholars and faculty, where there is acknowledgement of objective standards of correctness, logic, beauty, weightiness, and truth intrinsic to the liberal arts.
The best description defining and explaining the difference and importance of classical education can be found in the essay written by Dr. Terrence Moore, A Classical Education for Modern Times, a principal and headmaster and one of the chief architects of the Barney Charter School Initiative.
